Springs were at my door when I got home from work today!
So naturally I got them on as quick as I could. Here it is!
Here's the "before" height just for comparison
Naturally, the giganto-sidewall 195/70's rub in the front, so I may well be ordering some 185/60's off TireRack here soon. It also desperately needs an alignment, the panhard rod may need to be adjusted of the axle is off center (if it is, it's not by much), and some limit straps for the rear axle as well. Also one of these:
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
But yeah I'm pretty happy with how everything looks (and drives, holy crap). Once I get the smaller tires and skid plate, the front will go a touch lower I think.

Awesome! How rare are cressedias?
![]() 02/27/2014 at 08:19 |

That is quite significant.

Depends on the year/options/etc, but fairly rare. This is an X7 which is moderately common as far as Cressidas go, but the wagons are rare which is why most of the stuff I've done has been custom/DIY stuff.

are those supra/celica wheels? the stock snowflakes were awesome enough, but these fit that wagon almost better than the supra. nice job.

It is. When I sent in my stock spring to have them make me new ones, they said the stock rate was like 140 lb/in. The new ones are 400lb/in, so it's a very significant increase in rate. The old springs are around 13.5" long free and compress to around 9" under the weight of the car. The new ones are around 8" long free.

That must make it much less boat like.

Much.

I see it hasn't shattered your spine yet.

Not even a little. My daily driver for the last 6 years has been my MR2 which is set up for autocross and is pretty stiff. 250F 350R on a 2600lb car is about the same stiffness as 400 on a 3XXXlb car

Just wanted to jump in because I have a few friends that own some. X30's are really rare especially the wagon. Common ones you see are X70 and X80. I think it depends where you're from too.

Keep up the good work! My brother wants an X30. His friend has an X70 Boso style. Glad to see another Mark owner.

Stop owning my dream cars please. My pants just filled with sticky liquid jealousy.

X7's can be had for next to nothing and are super cheap to insure too. You just gotta be willing to put some elbow grease into it. Also, get a sedan. WAY easier to mod.

I LOVE the X30's. Have you seen the video going around with the blue one out of Scandinavia somewhere drifting around in the mountains? SO sexy.

Oh wow that looks mean. I think a 1.5" drop could do similar for my boat car, but I already scrape going in and out of my driveway. Blast, crappy gutters!

If I was going to get a sedan, I'd have to find an X30. X70s are best as wagons by all means.
Of course, an X30 wagon is fine by me too, especially if it has wood paneling.
Okay, I'd honestly take any Cressida I could get.

YES. Holy fuck man that's the first time I've seen X30's drift. I see X70's drift all the time. This is the first time I'm seeing your progress and currently reading your previous ones. I'm curious to know what your goal would look like.

I do love the X30, but you're in for a struggle to mod them. EVERYTHING has to be DIY/custom.

I don't really have a definite goal. I knew I wanted P-Type wheels and low. I know I want a nice sounding exhaust on it, to put in my other Supra seat, and a Nardi steering wheel. Other than that, I have no idea. In magical fantasy fairly land I'd like to put on a mk1 Celica-Supra rear axle for the LSD and disc brakes, then maybe turbo the engine. Or carbs. Or 7M-GTE swap. Who knows.

Everything everything? Visually, I'd probably just want it lowered about an inch or two and then possibly throw on some different wheels from pretty much any other Japanese car of that era. Not sure which ones. It would probably depend on the color and whether it's a sedan or a wagon. I can see the drop being a problem, though, but I can't imagine there's not ANY aftermarket stuff to do that.

I think T3 makes a couple things but for any swap you have to modify the crossmember fairly significantly (and you would want a swap. The 4M is pretty lame sauce). For rear suspension you'd have to either do what everyone does and run cut springs, or do what I did and get custom ones made and run with Camaro/Mustang/4Runner shocks in the back. Front would have to be a cut/weld coilover conversion like all the other old spindle-based Toyotas.
